September 10-16 is National Lifeline Awareness Week
As consumers struggle to pay their bills in today’s tough economy, it’s more important than ever for everyone to be aware of the Lifeline telephone service discount program. Consumers who qualify for Lifeline pay a fraction of the regular cost for telephone connection and monthly local telephone service.
Lifeline Awareness Week (September 10-16) is the perfect time to learn more about the program. I encourage you to check out the California LifeLine educational materials
Consumer Action has developed to help eligible low-income Californians understand and enroll in the program. Consumers outside California should read the FCC's consumer guide to the federal Lifeline program
